From January 1, 2026:

• payment transactions related to the provision of payment services under Art. 4 of the Payment Services and Payment Systems Act, that were initiated in BGN before the date of introduction of the euro and will be completed on January 1, 2026 or thereafter, will be executed in euro. The EUR amount will correspond to the BGN amount, converted at the official exchange rate in accordance with the rules for conversion and rounding;
• initiation and execution of payment transactions in BGN, including direct debits, will be suspended;
• deposit and cash exchange services in BGN will continue subject to the terms and conditions specified in the Cash Exchange section below.
