Western Union® money transfer services now available at Fibank branches

Western Union and Fibank team up to offer Western Union domestic and international money transfer services from the bank’s extensive network in Bulgaria.

SOFIA – December 07, 2017 – The Western Union Company (NYSE: WU), a leader in global payments services, and Fibank (First Investment Bank), the biggest bank with Bulgarian capital, have joined forces to offer the Western Union money transfer services through the bank’s network in Bulgaria, connecting its customers to more than 200 countries and territories.

This new collaboration enables customers to send as well as receive funds locally or internationally through Fibank’s locations across Bulgaria. Transfers can be made in BGN and EUR. Transfers are quick and easy and require neither sender nor receiver to have a bank account. Fees are paid by the sender, and for receiving the funds, the receiver is required to present a valid ID and provide the money transfer control number (MTCN) provided on the sender’s receipt, the sender’s name, sending country and approximate payout amount.

“We are delighted to be collaborating with Fibank to provide their customers with fast, seamless and reliable money transfer services”, said Gabriel Sorbo, Head of Southern Europe, Western Union.

“Fibank is an important pillar in the implementation of our omni-channel strategy. Further developments may also include online money transfers from Fibank accounts to all Western Union locations around the world or bank account pay-outs to more than 50 countries. The reverse is also on the cards with Western Union money transfers being channelled directly into Fibank online accounts or ATMs”.

All Fibank branches are provided with access to the Western Union network, which ensures high speed of customer service and transfer execution.

“Customers will appreciate the speed and convenience of Western Union transfers, now available across the whole Fibank network, including more than 150 branches and offices in the country”, said Mrs. Sevdalina Vassileva, Executive Director at Fibank.

The Fibank inclusion expands Western Union’s Retail Location network in Bulgaria to 1,900 locations.
