President Rosen Plevneliev: „Corporate Commercial Bank is an isolated case for our banking system“

The state support granted shall be returned within 5 years, said the President

On 31st August 2014 shall expire the deadline when Bulgaria will present to the European Commission its plan for government support for the banking sector, reminded the president Rosen Plevneliev. Brussels approved the support at the end of June this year. Last week, representatives of the European Commission and European Central Bank have been in Sofia and met with the interim government and the management of the Bulgarian National Bank.

" I exclude CCB, which is a special case, said Plevneliev. - No other Bulgarian bank is like CCB“.

CCB case is "different and special" and will be considered separately, said the President.

President Plevneliev added: "Beyond that, I would like firmly to guarantee that the European Commission has received all the data, it showed very positive attitude to the proposed restructuring plan and the provision of government support. We are expecting the plan to be approved very quickly, while all other banks and one of the largest structurally defining banks which was the subject of such support will have absolutely no problem“.

In accordance with the EU regulations, the banks have to repay the support within 5 years, but Plevneliev expects this to happen sooner.

„Outside the special case "CCB", the European Commission is aware, it has received the documents, they will be processed in time and I expect an easy, sable and smooth transition for everyone else", the President said in Brussels.
